Fede Alvarez, the director of the film "Alien: Romulus", shared behind-the-scenes video of the facehugger, which turned out to be not just a passive prop, but was quite naturally running around the set with radio control.

In the nearly 20-second clip, Alvarez demonstrated a very impressive robot created by the New Zealand special effects and prop company Wētā Workshop.

"Playing with my favorite toy on set of 'Alien: Romulus' last summer. Happy Alien Day everyone!", the director wrote.

Alvarez shared that facehuggers were creatures from the "Alien" franchise that scared him the most. This led to his decision to film their confrontation with the main heroine of "Alien: Romulus", played by Keily Spain.

"Alien: Romulus" tells the story of a group of space colonists trapped on a remote station filled with xenomorphs. Along with Spain, the cast includes David Jonsson, Archie Reno, Isabella Mersad, Spike Fyrn, and Eileen Wu. The film will be released in theaters on August 15, 2024.
