Soon in Ukraine, mass production of new kamikaze drones similar to the Russian "Lancet" will begin. These drones are capable of attacking the enemy at a distance of up to 40 km. This was announced by the Minister of Digital Transformation, Mikhail Fedorov.

"In the range of up to 20 km, we have a large number of FPV drones used, but at night it is quite difficult to find a target within a range of 20 km. We see it in the statistics. We need to hit at 40 km," he said.

Mikhail Fedorov added that Ukrainian manufacturers have already created test samples and have already tested them in combat conditions.

"There are already combat applications, but at the moment they are few," added the Deputy Prime Minister.

It is expected that the wider application of such UAVs will begin soon. According to preliminary data, Russians will feel the work of the test samples of these drones within two months.

"It is difficult to give specific dates, but I think that within two months information will start appearing in Russian groups about how their tanks are burning," said Mikhail Fedorov.

It may take about six months to start serial production of the Ukrainian analogue of the "Lancet" in order to "boost the market" for such kamikaze drones, as the "Lancets" are quite technological.

"There are several companies on the radars now, and we are testing their products. In the coming weeks, the fate of contracts for the production of drones like Lancet will be decided," said Fedorov.

Shortly after that, the drones will be on the battlefield.

During the full-scale attack on Ukraine, Russia actively uses its own developed strike drones "Lancet". In mid-2023, the deputy chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Alexey Gromov, stated that the occupying country had manufactured up to 900 units of these drones, 850 of which had been used in the combat zone.

The "Lancet" UAV is capable of covering distances up to 40 km and moving at speeds of up to 110 km/h (up to 300 km/h when diving). The maximum weight is 12 kg (combat part - up to 3 kg).
