Uncompressed music may still appear on Spotify along with an application mentioned in the program. Code fragments in the latest versions of Spotify for Android give hope for the possibility of the company launching lossless audio in the near future.
Rumors about the Spotify Hi-Fi subscription option have been circulating for three years, then rumors about the Supremium tariff plan appeared—it seems like Spotify has changed its strategy again. The code indicates that lossless audio will be included in the additional Music Pro app, which will also include DJ remix features. So, Music Pro is not another standalone plan, but rather an additional feature for Spotify Premium.
User Reddit Hypixely found the code. Screenshots show fragments indicating the implementation of lossless audio. The mentions are very direct: "lossless," "music 24-bit and 44.1 kHz," "music 24-bit and 44.1 kHz."
Interestingly, Spotify also plans a headphone optimization feature that uses "patented technology" to enhance sound for specific models, with Apple's AirPods mentioned in the code. Hypixely also believes that Music Pro will allow for an expanded library filter (by mood, genre, etc.). Spotify is increasingly promoting AI-generated playlists, but it is unknown if they will be part of the Music Pro add-on.
