According to Hromadske, Ukrainian drones of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) struck the Gazprom Neftkhim Salavat refinery in Bashkortostan, Russia, on May 9. The source reported that the UAVs flew over 1500 km - a record distance for Ukrainian drones.
“Once again, the SBU has proven to have powerful technological solutions that help deliver painful blows to the enemy. This means that Russian refineries and oil depots working for the military-industrial complex cannot feel safe even in deep rear areas,” the publication quotes a source.
The attack was documented in numerous local photos and videos. According to available information, the catalytic cracking unit of the refinery was damaged. The Defense-Express website notes that at least two large drones, different from the "Lyuty" model previously used for attacks on refineries, were involved.
It is possible that a large drone based on a light aircraft was used. Similar UAVs were first observed during the attack on the Shaheedov plant in Alabuga on April 2, as well as at the TANECO refinery in Tatarstan (over 1200 km).
